Project Mayhem’s twisted blend of anti-civilization ethos and indulgence inspires the “Paper Street” cocktail—a silky, pink concoction echoing the eerie luxury of Paper Street Soap Company, spiked with smoky tequila and finished with a scarred strawberry garnish that hits as hard as its philosophy. (Recipe Below)

Project Mayhem offered two things "the rejection of basic assumptions especially civilization", and luxury bar soap.  The luxury bar soap made by the Paper Street Soap Company is silky, creamy, and pink which is the inspiration for our first cocktail called Paper Street.  For the base of this silky, creamy and pink cocktail, we combined half and half, cream of coconut, Strawberry Saccharum and Grenadine. This strawberry cream base is perfect for a slightly smoky sweet and earthy tequila with some bitter orange liqueur to liven up the whole drink like a punch to the face.  Shake it vigorously and serve it in a coupe and garnish with a burn-scarred macerated strawberry like the lye kiss for all of the initiates of Project Mayhem.

I am Jack inflamed sense of rejection.

Grenadine Syrup

1 cup (8 oz, 240mL) Pomegranate Juice

1 cup (200 g) Organic Cane Sugar

Strawberry Saccharum

100 g Fresh, clean strawberries

Combine Strawberries and Sugar in a jar and gently stir.  Allow to sit in a cool, dry place for 24-48 hours until  the strawberries have rendered their liquid and flavor.  Strain into a syrup bottle.

  • Teremana Reposado Tequila

    80 proof/40% ABV, NOM 1613

    Siete Bucks Spirits

Made from Jalisco region Blue Weber Highlands Agave.  This small batch tequila is aged in American whiskey barrels producing oak and vanilla notes in this citrusy, smooth tequila with a slight char.

  • Cointreau

    80 proof/40% ABV

    Remy Martin Company

An colorless orange liqueur made with bitter orange peels and alcohol from sugar beets.  Produced in France with the recipe still a family secret.

  • Plantation OFTD Over Proofed Rum

    138 proof/ 68% ABV

    Maison Ferrand

Old Fashioned Traditional Dark, Navy style rum made for mass distribution which has created some controversy.  It is a blend of Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados rums to create its high-proof.  The controversy is that sugars are added to mask the bite.  Flavors in this strong rum are reminiscent of a pecan raisin cinnamon roll with a touch of chocolate and a punchy-bite finish.

  • Grenadine

Grenadine is a common non-alcoholic beverage syrup used for its color, sweetness and syrup consistency.  Commercially produced grenadine is more sweet and less citrusy from artisan made grenadine.  Grenadine syrup is easy to make in small batches at home resulting in more pomegranate flavor.

  • Strawberry Saccharum

Made by macerating equal parts clean, fresh strawberries with sugar.  For a more concentrated flavor, slice or dice freshly picked strawberries.

  • Barkeeper's Cream of Coconut

Made by blending together meat from a mature coconut and sugar, barkeeper's cream of coconut has concentrated fresh coconut flavor and a lot of sweetness.

  • Half and Half

    10.5% - 18% fat

Half and half is an equal parts mixture of cream and milk.  Now, there are great non-dairy options in the market.

  • Salt

Salt is a great flavor changer.  It can balance sweetness and bitterness, smoothing out a cocktail.  It can also enhance citrus flavor and acidity without the need for more acid.  It is most commonly used in rimming cocktail glasses, but a sprinkle in the cocktail shaker can really impact a cocktail.  Make it into a saline solution to enhance stirred cocktails.

Silk, Smoke, and Mayhem: Cocktails Inspired by Fight Club That Break the First Rule and Bottle the Chaos

Inspired by Fight Club, this cocktail feature channels the film’s bruised philosophy into two bold, subversive drinks. The “Paper Street” blends creamy decadence with a sly edge—its silky pink body nodding to the eerie luxury of Paper Street Soap Company while delivering a smoky tequila kick that lands like a back-alley punch. In contrast, the “First Rule” cocktail riffs on a classic rum punch, layering spice, fruit, and bitterness into something dangerously easy to drink and hard to forget, echoing the seductive pull of the First Rule of Fight Club. Together, they mirror the film’s descent from restless dissatisfaction into full-blown chaos, where indulgence and rebellion blur into one intoxicating experience. It’s a menu that doesn’t just reference the story—it distills its anarchic spirit into every glass.
